Associate Attorney

Kate T. Mandel

Ms. Mandel is an Associate Attorney in the Carlsbad office of Adams Silva & McNally. Her practice areas include labor and employment, special education, governance, and student matters.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Mandel developed her skills as a law clerk for ASM. Ms. Mandel previously interned at an international manufacturing and technology company, conducting an analysis of existing contracts and developing companywide templates for typical agreements. She also interned for an employment and labor firm, conducting intake reviews of potential clients, preparing discovery, and assisting with cases of workplace discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, and other employment law issues.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Mandel obtained her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Student Development and worked in higher education administration. As an Area Coordinator at Brandeis University, she managed student housing; navigating student conflicts, managing facilities, and supervising student staff. She also advocated for students with disabilities by improving transparency, communication, and fairness in the housing accommodations process. Additionally, Ms. Mandel served as the Director of the University of Northern Colorado Graduate Student Association and as a Class Representative to the University of San Diego Student Bar Association.
