Tamra J. Kaufman

Tamra J. Kaufman is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Adams Silva & McNally. Ms. Kaufman’s practice focuses on a wide range of legal issues including special education, student discipline, labor and employment, charter schools, and general education law.

Ms. Kaufman began practicing law in 2000 and has extensive experience representing school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools in special education matters and various general education issues. Ms. Kaufman has successfully represented clients in numerous due process hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings, as well as before the California Department of Education and Office for Civil Rights. Ms. Kaufman also has experience representing school districts in appellate matters before the U.S. District Court. Ms. Kaufman has conducted trainings for school district staff on various topics including developing defensible assessments, compliant IEPs, and Section 504 Plans.

Ms. Kaufman earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, where she served as Executive Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review. She first became involved in education law through her mother, who is a lifelong educator for over 50 years and former Superintendent of Hollister School District. Ms. Kaufman is passionate about public education and earned a California multisubject teaching credential.
